The United Arab Emirates has decided to lift its travel restrictions on Lebanon, permitting Emirati citizens to visit the country once more. This change comes after a temporary travel ban was imposed due to regional security concerns. Emiratis planning to travel to Lebanon are required to register through the Twajudi emergency assistance service before their journey. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has specified that without completing this registration, citizens will not be allowed to exit through UAE border points.
Initially, the travel ban had been instituted amidst rising regional tensions, affecting travel to several nations. Emirati citizens who were in Lebanon at the time were advised to return to the UAE and seek guidance from authorities. The easing of this restriction is seen as a positive step towards normalizing travel and relations between the two countries.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has expressed his approval of the UAE’s decision, highlighting that it signifies the robust relationship shared by the two nations. He noted that the move could pave the way for enhanced cooperation and stronger ties between the people of both countries.
This development comes on the heels of discussions between leaders from the UAE and Lebanon, focusing on improving bilateral relations and enhancing regional stability and security cooperation. The conversations also involved UAE President Sheikh Mohamed and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, who deliberated on initiatives to foster peace and bolster the ties between their nations.
The decision to lift the travel ban aligns with a recent milestone, as Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement aimed at promoting peace. This agreement is part of broader diplomatic efforts in the region, with various partners welcoming the steps toward a peaceful resolution.
