UAE Declares No Ebola Cases Following Traveler’s Transit Through Country

by admin477351

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that there are no Ebola cases within the country, following concerns that arose after a traveler, who passed through the UAE, was diagnosed with Ebola in Uganda. The traveler, identified as a Congolese national, was found to have the virus after reaching Uganda, having previously transited through the UAE without visiting any medical facilities.

In response to the situation, UAE health authorities have taken proactive steps to ensure public safety and are collaborating with the World Health Organization. They have put into action several precautionary measures such as risk assessments, contact tracing, and heightened health surveillance, all in alignment with international health guidelines.

Officials have pointed out that the current Ebola outbreak is primarily limited to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The World Health Organization maintains that the global public health risk from this outbreak remains low at this time.

As a safety measure, the UAE government has advised its citizens and residents to refrain from non-essential travel to affected areas, specifically the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, while closely monitoring updates related to the outbreak.

Ebola, a severe viral illness, spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of those infected. It presents symptoms such as fever, fatigue, headaches, vomiting, and diarrhea, with severe cases potentially leading to organ failure and internal bleeding.
